Defense against more than two attackers with free choice of technique
The term ‘taninzu’ refers to a large group of people, whilst ‘gake’ means ‘to be in the middle, to be surrounded’. Taninzugake is sometimes also used as a synonym for randori.
In our aikido, it is a generic term for the static sanin-dori (3 attackers) and yonin-dori (4 attackers), as shown in dan examinations as an introduction to randori.
