Today at our Open House class, the focus was on the three basic elements of Aikido: turning, contact and ukemi.
- Centered and present turning (passing movement, initiated from the hips): TAI-SABAKI, alone and as partner exercise
- Living contact (connection): MUSUBI exercise with shoulder contact, with one or two partners
- UKEMI (acceptance of partner movement, especially rolling and falling): USHIRO-UKEMI, from a kneeling and standing position; as partner exercise with a MUSUBI contact, connecting with the partner's palm
- Combination of the three principles in the techniques AI-HANMI KATATE-DORI IRIMI-NAGE and SHIHO-NAGE (URA)
