  • Rolling from a standing position (forward, backward) with conscious final posture
  • Backward roll from a standing position following the partner's impulse
  • Ikkyo ukemi: active attitude even as uke, neither ‘blocking’ nor ‘victimizing oneself', recognising how far you can accept/equilibrate a movement and when it is appropriate to take a new position

Topic: Entering

  • ‘Pre-tension’ of uke (e.g. rear foot lifts), uke is no longer completely balanced
  • Entering the centre, direction of movement of uke and tori intersect
  • Udekime-nage: opening - closing of chest/shoulder blades, ‘screwing movement’ of the front arm when throwing
